FCC Construcción participates in the conference ‘Modernisation of public contracting: collaborative models’ organised by El Economista newspaper
FCC Construcción has taken part in the conference ‘Modernisation of Public Contracting: Collaborative Models’, organised by the newspaper El Economista. The contracting and execution of civil works in the Spanish context must be based on a collaborative model between the public and private sectors. This is one of the main conclusions reached by the speakers at the colloquium that preceded the round tables. Among the reasons that have encouraged this type of contracting are concerns about litigation and efficiency in the execution of projects, often the source of conflict in the development of a project.
On behalf of FCC Construcción, David Fernandez-Sampedro, Head of International Estimating and Tendering of the FCC Group's construction area, spoke about the advantages and needs of collaborative models, such as the correct alignment of partners to avoid litigation, compliance with project deadlines and budgets, the strengthening of the ESG factor resulting in projects with higher economic and social benefits, and helping to calculate the life-cycle cost of the works, instead of focusing on the Capex to the detriment of other costs/factors.
FCC Construcción has strong experience in collaborative contracting models: A303 Amesbury to Berwick Down (Stonehenge, United Kingdom); Our Hospital Project (Jersey island, United Kingdom), GO Rail Expansion - On Corridor Project (RER 3) (Canada); PennDOT Pathways Major Bridge P3 Initiative (USA); Stations, Rail and Systems Project for the Scarborough Subway Extension (Canada); PDB North Civil Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations for the Ontario Line (Canada).
