The Forum was structured into six debating blocks: the importance of public works as the key to modernisation, globalisation and its paradigms against the wave of protectionism, new technologies and the digital agenda, water, the environment and the fight against climate change, multilateral strategy in investment in engineering and the push towards intelligent cities.

As in previous years, the Forum included the organisation of an exhibition of international projects, covering the main ones undertaken by Spanish companies that operate on all continents.
The FCC infrastructure area was represented by Santiago Erans, manager of the Consorcio Línea 2 Panama, who gave a speech on the current state of the works to build Line 2 of the Panama metro, the main mileposts met and the main challenges faced.
He also described the proven experience of FCC Construcción in this type of project, especially Line 1 of the Panama metro, emphasising the social and economic benefits provided by its undertaking.

Line 2 will have 21 km of elevated line with 16 stations in the areas with the highest concentration of uses, such as San Miguelito, Paraíso, the crossing with the Vía Cincuentenario, the Villa Lucre and Brisas del Golf estates, the Los Pueblos y Metromall shopping centres, the San Antonio estate, El Parador in the village of Pedregal, the Don Bosco estate, the Panama Technology University (UTP), Las Mañanitas, the Eastern Hospital, Altos de Tocumen, La Doña shopping centre and the community of Nuevo Tocumen.

The metro line 2 will have an initial capacity to carry 16,000 passengers per hour per direction and is designed for a capacity in a year’s horizon of 40,000 passengers per hour per direction.
To meet the initial peak period demand, a three-minute train interval is planned, requiring 21 trains of five coaches.
