FCC Construcción sponsors informative breakfast with the president of ADIF

The president of Adif, María Luisa Domínguez, has participated in an informative breakfast sponsored by FCC Construcción. During the meeting, the president of ADIF explained the current tasks of the public company that they hope they will have in the long term and in terms of sustainability, territorial cohesion and opportunities. José A. Madrazo Salas, director of Spain, Portugal and the industrial area of FCC Construcción, and Juan Antonio March, director of Rail Transport at Indra, accompanied the president of Adif at the meeting.

In the first place, Madrazo Salas has highlighted that, from the point of view of mobility, "the railway is absolutely key and necessary so that the territories can form part of the modern world". In this way, it has stressed that from the sector "we have to make an effort of work and imagination" to undertake necessary actions such as the reallocation of funds, having agile contracting tools, facilitating economic rebalancing that allows everyone to work together the agents involved, etc. In this line, he has indicated that Adif has always been a benchmark for society.

The president of Adif began her speech by referring to the work being carried out by the infrastructure manager to transform transport and communications in Spain, with a view to favoring economic and social development. In this sense, she has recalled that, due to the nature of its tasks, a large part of the activity of this public company is carried out with a long-term horizon. Therefore, Domínguez wanted to express Adif's great commitment to the development of the railway as a key element for the decarbonization of transport and to achieve our sustainable development objectives, as well as as an axis of intermodality. She has also emphasized the great social demand and the institutional and economic support that this mode of transport receives from all public institutions.

Thus, she has pointed out that Adif's strategic plan is highly structured and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Spain has a railway network of more than 15,600 kilometres, making it the second country in the world with the longest high-speed network behind China. Despite this, work continues on the progressive improvement of the infrastructure with electrification and digitization as some of the many challenges to be faced.
