FCC Construcción receives business achievement award from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Qatar
FCC Construcción has been recognised for its business achievements by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Qatar at its 15th anniversary celebrations.
The award was presented by the Spanish Ambassador to Qatar, who highlighted FCC's key role over its 125 years of activity in the design and development of some of the world's most important infrastructure projects.
FCC Construcción has been operating in Qatar for over 10 years. It began with the design and construction of the Lusalil footbridges, which form part of the new city of Lusail, a new urban development located approximately 13 kilometres north-west of the city of Doha, covering an area of approximately 38 square kilometres. Each of the two almost identical pedestrian bridges has spans of 30 metres, 60 metres and 30 metres formed by four oval sections 30 metres long.
The company subsequently designed and built the red line of the Doha metro, which was considered by ENR to be the best metro project in the world in 2018. The project involved the construction of the elevated section of the RLS red line in the Qatari capital as a continuation of the RLS Underground red line. It is a 6.97 km section of metro line with three elevated stations named Ras Bu Fontas, Al Wakra and Free Zone.
The section executed by FCC, within the Red Line, has been one of the most advanced sections in terms of execution compared to all the sections developed by various international construction companies.
