FCC Construcción present at the visit of the President of the Xunta de Galicia to the CHUAC project

FCC Construcción is currently executing phase 0 of the expansion of the most important hospital complex in Galicia, the University Hospital of A Coruña. The President of the Xunta de Galicia paid a visit to the reform and modernization project (phase 0) which will be integrated into the future health complex, which will be the most important hospital action in the last 50 years.

The new CHUAC will have 224,000 square meters of built area (67% more than the current Chuac), 15% more beds (half, in individual rooms), consultations and observation posts will be expanded by 50%, up to 108% of emergency rooms and 2,600 parking spaces.

The reform works, carried out by FCC Construcción, affect four floors of the current hospital complex.

On the fourth floor, four day hospitals will be designed and built, one will be multipurpose for different specialties (cardiology, internal medicine, digestive, endocrinology ...), and three specific for oncology, hematology and allergies. Together, they will have 107 positions for patients and 32 premises for medical and surgical outpatient consultations. The Transplant Office will also be located on this floor and the exterior access will be renovated.

On the first floor, the pharmacy will be expanded by 250 square meters, and the current Emergencies by 150 to add 2 boxes and 14 more seats for armchairs or beds.

In addition, a hospitalization unit with 18 rooms and 29 beds (7 single rooms and 11 double rooms) will be created on the fifth floor. Finally, on the sixth floor will be centralized three ucis for polytraumatized and intermediate, with 14 and 15 beds each, which will mean winning 7 more places for critical patients than the current ones.

FCC Construcción has extensive experience in the development of hospital projects. The University Hospital of Salamanca has recently been completed, which is the largest hospital in Castilla y León; and the San Juan de Dios hospital in Seville. It currently runs the Soria hospital as well as the Jersey hospital (United Kingdom).
