FCC Construccion, protagonist in the August edition of Bridge design & engineering magazine
The construction area of the FCC Group has been the protagonist in the August edition, nº92 of the prestigious international construction magazine Bridge Design & Engineering.
In the magazine there is an extensive article about the project that FCC Construccion is executing in the USA, Gerald Desmont bridge. The project includes the design, replacement of the old bridge and the construction of a bridge located in the port of Long Beach, in Los Angeles. The new bridge has a cable-stayed typology with a main span of 305 meters in length located 61 meters above the Back Channel of the Long Beach port. FCC is advancing in the construction of the two towers with a single shaft of approximately 155 meters high that will support the cable-stayed part of the main 305-meter dashboard and which will allow the construction of the viaducts to approach the main bridge, executed in vain.
In addition, FCC Construccion and BBR are protagonists in this issue of the magazine with the work of integral reform of the Fernando Reig bridge in Alcoy. The works consisted in the replacement of the 38 bridge ties, the central pilaster has been repaired and the aesthetics of the bridge have been modified, modifying the initial pink color of the pillars by a white tone and providing lighting to the infrastructure.
The actions carried out have been necessary to restore and improve the functionality of the work, its durability and the safety of the users. Likewise, during the execution of the works, special emphasis has been placed on safety and health, given that it has been a pioneer intervention in bridges of this type.
With the reopening of this infrastructure the transfer time will be reduced as well as the connectivity of more than 100,000 people.
