FCC Construccion publishes the second "Good Practice" on Occupational Health and Safety

The construction area of the FCC Group publishes the second best practice of Occupational Health and Safety "Implementation of procedure / protocol of preventive measures, for action in case of forecast of adverse meteorological conditions (cold drop)".

This good practice was applied in Phase III of the OAMI Headquarters (Alicante). In the months of September and October, violent storms and high intensity caused damage in some areas of Spain, mainly Mediterranean. The protocol of action in case of cold and wind drop describes the active and passive measures to be carried out to minimize the risks of affectation due to this phenomenon, both to existing buildings and to the work itself.

The solution adopted was the daily check through the AEMET AND METEOALARMA page, the weather forecast for that day and the following 48 hours.

In case a cold drop risk forecast is presented, FCC Construccion will apply the new performance protocol. The measures included in this protocol are the following:

  • Have the human team provided in the protocol.
  • Check the correct operation of the bilge pump of the pumping wells, as well as the electrical panels of the same.
  • Check the availability of the generator set in case it is necessary to use it, in the event of a general supply cut.
  • In the event that the team's guards detect water inflows to the existing facilities from the works site, they will notify FCC Construcción managers by telephone.
  • Make ridges (ridges) immediately to channel the waters.
