FCC Construcción carries out the expansion works of the controlled deposit of the Commonwealth of the South
- The project, with an investment that exceeds 26 million euros, includes the creation of a new pouring basin of more than 11 hectares, with a earthworks of almost 2.5 million cubic meters
- Sealing and degassing of the pouring vessel are also included currently in operation
On the occasion of the next expiration of the useful life of the Controlled Deposit of the Southern Commonwealth, located between the terms municipalities of Pinto, Getafe and San Martín de la Vega, is association of municipalities called the contest Phase IV expansion project and works, including sealing and degassing of Phase III and expansion of the leachate treatment capacity, as well as the pond associated leachate.
This contract was awarded to FCC Medio Ambiente and FCC Construcción, which it is currently carrying out the corresponding works at a good pace and it is planned that its execution ends in April 2023.
The main objective of the project is the creation of a new pouring glass, known as Cell 8, with a plant area of more than 11 hectares and in whose execution milestones such as the movement of almost 2.5 million m3 of land will be reached, with a forecast exceeding 10,000 m3 moved per day.
These lands will be reused both in the adaptation of support platforms for future facilities planned by the Mancomunidad del Sur, such as the sealing of the current dumping basin and the exploitation of the controlled deposit itself, creating a synergy between the work and the needs of the facility.
FCC Medio Ambiente is awarded the exploitation of the Controlled Deposit of I have been painting since October 2015 and also manages the Packaging Classification Plant in the same locality. Performs directly or indirectly, through its 4 stations transfer, reception and deposit of waste from the 71 municipalities of the Community of Madrid that make up the association, which represent a population served of almost 1.9 million inhabitants.
In 2020 this facility received 755,323 tons of waste, with an average of 2,063 tons and almost 350 transits a day. These data confirm it as one of the largest Controlled Deposits of Spain, a key essential service in situations such as generalized confinement of the population or adversity after the storm Filomena.
