- Pérez warns that the “terms and conditions” of the allocation of a part of the European funds that could be allocated to the sector are still unknown
The Regional Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid, David Pérez, participated in an informative breakfast organized by the Executive Forum with the collaboration of FCC Construcción and Confebus. The second vice president of the Congress of Deputies, Ana Pastor, participated in the meeting introducing Pérez and referring to him as "a great municipalist", whose "public experience, dedication, talent, commitment to the public and training guarantee him to be a great advisor ”.
Rafael Barbadillo, president of Confebus-Madrid, and José Antonio Madrazo, director of FCC Construcción in Spain, Portugal and the industrial area, have also accompanied the director. Jose A Madrazo has acknowledged that we are currently going through a "dizzying time" in which it is necessary to "think and do", for which he has stressed that it is "to be grateful for ambitious but rigorous policies." In this sense, he has pointed to the Government of the Community of Madrid as the “spearhead of growth” and has stated that from FCC we will always “be doing the best of ourselves so that everything goes forward for the good of all of us”.
David Pérez has begun his intervention by highlighting that "Madrid has one of the most powerful transport networks in Europe", which is one of the keys to the economic and social success of the Community. Based on this strength and on the occasion of the celebration of the European Mobility Week, Pérez has presented the Mobility Decalogue that the Community of Madrid takes as a guide and work strategy, but also as a “commitment that we want to extend to the entire sector". Along these lines, the counselor has announced that the different transport, mobility and infrastructure agents will be summoned soon to sign this decalogue and form part of this commitment.
Axes of the Decalogue
The Mobility Decalogue of the Community of Madrid includes as principles freedom, territorial structuring, sustainability and efficiency, health, competitiveness, accessibility, security, intermodality, innovation and public-private collaboration. Thus, Pérez has warned that "the Madrid transport network cannot be stopped, because it is in permanent development and needs permanent maintenance." In this line, he has highlighted the importance of collaborative and joint work with all companies, concessionaires and administrations involved in this sector.
Regarding the different lines addressed in the decalogue, Pérez has insisted on several of them, such as, for example, the importance of public transport to promote social cohesion and territorial balance and provide more opportunities for the entire population. In this way, he has also insisted on the importance of "citizens knowing that at this time public transport is safe." "I want to dispel that fear: all infrastructures are disinfected daily and all health safety regulations are observed with great responsibility at all times," he added, "we have all the elements to ensure that we have safe transport."
Leading transport network
The counselor has verified that "if the Community of Madrid did not have this public transport, it would not be a leading community and a generator of employment." For this reason, he has expressed the will to continue working for "the development of a transport policy that is a reference at European level" and has highlighted some lines of work and projects such as the start-up of Madrid North District, the application of more of 60 intelligent systems in the transport network or the construction of model interchanges, among others.
In this sense, Pérez has also referred to the importance of European funds in order to develop these plans. Thus, despite the fact that he has explained that there is a part that apparently is already ready for certain projects, he has expressed his concern about the more than 68,000 million euros that the central government has not yet allocated, especially considering that in infrastructure it is You need to be able to plan ahead. In the same way, he has denounced that there is still no news about it. "We do not know deadlines and conditions," he added, and he also insisted that "the funds do not belong to the Government" and that "the autonomous communities and municipalities need to put them in place to continue to ensure a competitive and safe transport network ”.
