FCC Construcción sponsors the 9th National Congress of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts (ATPYC)

FCC Construcción was the main sponsor of the 9th National Congress of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts (ATPYC), at which it highlighted the importance of ports and port-related professionals in the global objectives of decarbonisation and ecological transition.

The future of the ports will be based on decarbonising the economic and social sectors, reducing energy dependence from abroad and positioning the ports as a strategic innovative pole, at the forefront of the energy transition. Spanish ports are focusing a large part of their efforts and investments on actions related to sustainability and the environment and, in addition to their traditional function as a hub for the exchange of goods and passengers, they have become energy-industrial poles, currently very much oriented towards renewable energies.

‘A Coruña Green Port’ will attract private investment of 2,000 million euros by 2030. The strategic lines include the development of an off-shore wind hub in Punta Langosteira, the production and export of biofuels and renewable molecule products, and the generation of green energy in the Outer Port itself to achieve energy self-sufficiency.

The IX ATPYC National Congress concluded with the attendance of more than 250 professionals from all over Spain, organised by Puertos del Estado, the Port Authority of A Coruña and ATPYC itself.
