FCC Construcción takes part in the World Tunnel Congress organised by the International Tunnelling Association
FCC Construcción took part in the World Tunnel Congress with the aim of continuing to promote innovation and sustainability in tunnel engineering. The congress focused on the latest trends and directions in the development of tunnelling and underground engineering. This global event brought together industry experts to discuss sustainable, resilient and low-carbon solutions.
Marcos Calleja, Plant & Equipment Directorate (Technical Services) participated in the presentation Line 2 and Ramal - Red Básica Metro Lima y Callao - Conditioning of different types of soils encountered during the tunnel excavations with 2 TBMs (EPB and Variable Density). The company recently completed the first phase of the first underground metro in Lima, Peru, known as Stage 1A of Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro. This section, which connects five stations in the districts of Ate and Santa Anita, allows a journey that previously took 30 minutes to be completed in just seven minutes. The system is fully automatic and is designed to be safe, modern, sustainable and accessible. The project also includes Line 4, which will connect Lima to the airport, and various urban improvements such as the conversion of surfaces into green areas. The concessionaire is an international consortium of companies with experience in global infrastructure projects.
The congress provided an excellent platform for the exchange of information on research, design, construction and technology, where FCC Construcción was able to showcase its leadership in the application of smart building technology. This approach not only improves the efficiency of tunnelling and underground projects, but also supports the creation of greener, more liveable urban spaces.
FCC Construcción continues to be at the forefront of the industry, working on numerous projects internationally and using the best practices and technologies available to ensure that each project not only meets the expectations of its clients, but also makes a positive contribution to the environment.
