FCC Construcción has won the construction contract for the first phase of the new Son Dureta hospital complex (Mallorca). The project includes a long-stay hospital, with 240 rooms and two annex buildings. The contract has an amount of more than 61 million euros and an execution period of 36 months.

The long-stay hospital is designed for hospitalization periods of two to three months and for patients who need cures or special treatments. Also for those who for health reasons cannot be at home. The building will be connected to its annex buildings by walkways for better staff communication.

It will include a day hospital with a capacity of 80 patients per day, spaces for functional and cognitive rehabilitation, and external consultations.

In addition, it will also have a health center (with a forecast of 20,000 users) and a primary care emergency service (SUAP) for around 120,000 users.

The design integrates environmental and social aspects: there is a predominance of garden areas over paved spaces and it applies accessibility and ergonomics standards. It also contemplates sustainability and energy saving measures.
