FCC Construcción has won the contract for the execution of the Arona-Este Sanitation System as well as the construction project for the collectors and impellers associated with the Montaña Reverón WWTP (San Miguel de Arona municipality in Tenerife). The object of the contract is to provide the territorial delimitation of Arona Este-San Miguel with a comprehensive sanitation and purification system.

The project has a budget of more than 20 million euros and an execution period of 26 months.

The purpose of this public investment is to solve the non-compliance with the European Directive 91/271/CEE regarding the treatment of urban wastewater, as well as to regenerate the treated wastewater so that it can be reused for agricultural irrigation. Thanks to the execution of the project, the effluent of the nuclei of the eastern part of the municipality of Arona and the whole of San Miguel, as well as that of Vilaflor, will be treated, guaranteeing the European requirements on the treatment of urban wastewater and regeneration of the purified waste for agricultural reuse. And all this, thanks to a new system of collectors and impulsions that will lead all discharges to a new WWTP located in the Valle de San Lorenzo hydraulic complex. This WWTP projects a population forecast for the year 2036 of more than 230,000 inhabitants and an average daily flow of 24,275 m3/day, with tertiary treatment of residual water for reuse.
