FCC winner of the Agustín de Betancourt award, for the best international project: Doha Metro

FCC Construcción has won the Agustín de Betancourt award for the best international project: Doha Metro. The third edition of the Agustín de Betancourt International Public Works Award recognizes the work carried out by road engineers and Spanish engineering and construction companies in the international market, which is an emblem for Global Spain and a model of competition and modernity throughout the world.

The project has been promoted by Qatar Railways Company, an agency dependent on the Ministry of Transport; designed by TYPSA, Sener & Ehaf; and built by FCC Construcción, Archirodon Construction Company, Yuksel Insaat, Petroserv LTD in Joint Venture.

The work executed by FCC has been the Red Line South Elevated & At Grade, with 7 kilometers of elevated section and three stations. Among the reasons for the agreement are the high economic, social and sustainability impact (sustainable mobility) and the fulfillment of the SDGs that the design, construction and operation of the metropolitan ones, in particular, of the Doha Metro, in Qatar.

The award was collected by Pablo Colio, CEO of FCC, who thanked the College of Civil Engineers for their invitation and stated that "I collect the award on behalf of all the employees of FCC Construcción. With jobs like this we have achieved Spanish companies are positioning our engineering in a high level framework. This has shown previous editions and this shows the work of our companies and their professionals.

Later, he said that "this work is the backbone of the country, not only for Doha but also for the celebration of the football world cup, since some of its facilities will serve to access the sports complexes, accompanied by an iconic and representative design of the country's culture. "

The award ceremony, whose Honor Committee is chaired by S. M. Felipe VI, was held on June 24 within the development of the V Global Forum of Engineering and Public Works, which took place in the Palacio de la Magdalena, Santander. In the forum, the Minister of Development, the General Director of Internationalization of the Company of ICEX, and the President of the ICCP College, as well as other prominent personalities from the public and private sectors, were present.

The forum has become a national and international benchmark and, at the same time, a meeting point for professionals, managers and managers of the administrations, in which leading figures of engineering and construction, as well as managers and experts participate. of those strategic sectors in which the engineers of Ways are called to play a leading role of great relevance for the change and, consequently, for the modernization of our environment.
