FCc Industrial completes tests on the 500 KV line of the Nueva Esperanza project in Colombia

The aim of the Nueva Esperanza project is to ensure a reliable electricity supply to the centre of Colombia, particularly to the Bogotá Distrito Capital area. On this project, FCC Industrial carried out the construction and assembly of the 500 KV overhead, simple circuit line between the Bacatá and Nueva Esperanza substations.

The works comprised adapting accesses, redesigning, laying foundations and assembling the 114 metal towers, as well as putting in place 45 km of conductors and fibre optics for a 500-KV simple circuit line between the Bacatá and Nueva Esperanza substations.

The project will increase the transportation and reliability capacity of the power system that supplies the Cundinamarca Department (including Bogotá), Meta, Guaviare and Norte del Tolima, benefitting around 12 million Colombians in the country's central-eastern region.
