FCC Industrial wins the contract for the new passenger information system and IP intercom for RENFE stations

FCC Industrial and the El Corte Inglés computing department won the contract for the development and engineering, storage, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the IP intercom and passenger information system for Renfe Viajeros stations in May. The contract value is €9 million.

This is an integral contract with a high technological value for the deployment of the information systems over three years as well as maintenance for a two further years.

The contract includes the supply of the digital passenger information panels based on LED technology, high-definition monitors, public address system for announcements in lobbies and platforms as well as the digital intercom for emergency calls by passengers. The complete prototypes of the future information panels and intercoms will be developed in the framework of the stations during the integration.

The scope of the contract includes all the RENFE national suburban and medium distance stations, approximately more than 200 stations.

The industrial area of FCC Group has more than 25 years’ experience in this type of activity. FCC Industrial designs, engineers and develops systems to offer a wide range of solutions in the industry, transport, defence and infrastructures sectors. This notably includes the implementation of the information and intercom systems in the stations and stops of the tramway systems in Murcia and Zaragoza as well as the Málaga Metro. Notable in the area of tunnel control projects is the participation of FCC Industrial in the Coatzacoalcos tunnel (Mexico), recently opened to traffic, and the La Aldea (Gran Canaria) and Ítrabo (Granada) tunnels.
All these projects have complex messages panel, public address and intercom systems.
