FCC Industrial initiates the energy efficiency contract for Arganda del Rey (Madrid)

FCC Industrial has initiated the energy efficiency contract for the Madrid municipality of Arganda del Rey. The project involves changing 8,553 luminaires to LED, saving 76.95% of energy and positioning itself among the first and leading Town Halls in Spain to comply with the 20-20-20 plan to reduce energy consumption and energy efficiency.

At the moment the company has started its activity in the neighborhood of La Poveda and in the industrial estate. FCC Industrial and FCC Medio Ambiente are executing the contract for the new lighting service for Arganda del Rey.

It will go from 6,382,085.66 Kwh/year to 1,469,158.59 Kwh/year, which is equivalent to not producing 2,210.66 tons of CO2 per year. In this way, Arganda del Rey will be one of the first municipalities to comply with the commitments acquired in the Covenant of Mayors at a European level to mitigate climate change.
The investment to be executed in the first twelve months of the contract, which began last March, is 6,852,788.50 euros. Among the most important actions that are being carried out is the aforementioned replacement of all the luminaires in the municipality with state-of-the-art LED technology with a point-to-point control system.

A total of 8,553 luminaires are being replaced, as are all control and regulation panels that incorporate remote control and remote measurement systems connected through a web system, which will allow the citizens of Arganda del Rey to obtain real-time information on the energy consumption, CO2 emissions and incidents.

The conservation and maintenance service will be comprehensive 24 hours and 365 days a year, managing to intervene quickly and effectively in any incident that occurs in the facilities. Citizens will be able to notify incidents and will have a service office at the dealer's facilities.

In the same way, two electric vehicle charging points will be installed available to residents to promote the use of low-emission vehicles. Photovoltaic luminaires will be installed in areas that do not have public lighting and 718 poles will be replaced.

The execution of this contract will allow Arganda del Rey to become one of the first Spanish municipalities to reduce its energy dependence, mitigate light pollution and be certified as a sustainable municipality, exceeding the strictest standards set by the European Union.
