FCC secures two new contracts for waste management and street cleaning in the UK

FCC's internationalisation process makes progress in the UK. This time, the Group has secured two new contracts through its environment subsidiaries in the British Isles.

In the first of these contracts, FCC Environment UK will be responsible for municipal waste treatment and elimination in the County of Norfolk (located 160 kilometres north-east of London). This contract has a 4-year term and has been valid since 1 April of this year, although it may be extended by an extra year upon its termination.

This activity in Norfolk entails a works backlog of up to 54 million euros and will provide service to more than half of the 870,000 people living in the county. It will also treat a maximum of 100,000 tons of municipal waste a year in the mechanical treatment and recycling plant in the village of Costessey, Norfolk.

In addition, the FCC Group, through its subsidiary FCC Environment Services UK, has reached an agreement with the Town Council of Harborough to extend their contract, in place since 2008, for the collection of solid urban waste and street cleaning until 2023.

This extension demonstrates the British town council's trust in the technical and operational capacity of the services provided by FCC. The contract is worth 40 million euros for the Group's backlog and will provide a service to a total population of 88,000 people. From an environmental perspective, the sustainable solutions offered by FCC on both of these contracts will enable British authorities to meet recycling and waste diversion targets.

The FCC Group has been providing environmental services in the United Kingdom since 1989. Their activity currently serves more than 20 million people in the country and in 2015 they secured a net revenue of 926.9 million euros.
