FCC modernises facilities at the Instituto Rubiano as part of the programme 'Mi Escuela Primero' (My School First)

In adherence to FCC's Corporate Social Responsibility Plan, and supporting the "My School First" Programme, FCC showcased the completed modernisation works of the Instituto Rubiano to the Government of Panama. This Programme falls under the framework of the collaboration agreement signed today between the Citizen Services Group and the Panamanian Government with the aim of improving working conditions, and developing the educational community of the Central American country.

The construction division of FCC has remodelled and tailored the facilities of the Instituto Rubiano, one of the main education centres of the San Miguelito district in the Panamanian capital. The institute is attended by more than 3,000 students dispersed between morning and evening classes.

Chairman of FCC Construcción, Miguel Jurado, attended the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between FCC Construcción, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of the Presidency of the Republic of Panama. Jurado highlighted the importance that the Citizen Services Group places on the "social projects offered to young people so that they have access to better education in well equipped centres".

The most notable works carried out were the changes made to the classrooms, both in the pavilions as well as on the ground floor, for which 9,000 square metres were used. Additionally, the railings in the classrooms were removed in order to carry out the necessary brickwork for the new refurbishment concept of the classrooms in the five pavilions, frontal area, hallways and the administrative department.

Additionally, the piping lines and networks were cleaned and the ADAAN system installed, as well as the sanitary equipment changed and adapted. The electric cabling throughout the entire infrastructure was checked, as well as the wiring to install 74 new air conditioning units.

More than 200 windows were installed in the classrooms to replace the former railings, likewise in bathrooms, canteens and the PE hall. The finishing touches included the installation of new fittings, treatment and replacement of doors and the installation of new furniture in the classrooms.
