FCC participates in the breakfast information on the logistics of hydrocarbons before the energy transition
The construction area of the FCC Group has participated in the breakfast information on the logistics of hydrocarbons before the energy transition. The event was attended by the CEO of CLH, Jorge Lanza, as well as Pablo Colio, CEO of FCC, which offered the collaboration of FCC to continue supporting each other in national and international projects, among which the Airport has stood out of Dublin.
Lanza has begun his speech explaining that the energy transition is a process and that, although it is addressed and considered in different ways in each part of the world, it represents a global challenge that affects everyone equally. For this reason, he warned that, although Europe has decided to lead this transition, its emissions only represent 10% of global, so the involvement of all countries would be absolutely necessary. In this sense, he added that energy demand is growing because of its direct correlation with welfare levels and with the increase in world population, which would be causing the "center of gravity of the world to be in the eastern zone".
This growth in demand would require control of emissions that, for now, is not occurring. "The sustainable scenario requires investing the historical relationship between economic growth, energy demand and emissions," explained Lanza. In this way, it has considered that the "global energy mix continues to have a very important fossil component", despite the fact that it has recognized that it will go down in the coming years. As an example, it has referred to the automotive sector which, although it expects an 80% growth of its fleet, is making a great effort to limit its emissions and will be able to reduce its carbon footprint.
Finally, Lanza has declared that the energy model will evolve slowly and safely. To be part of this transition, CLH addresses changes from the adaptation of its infrastructures, with the aim of guaranteeing supply and favoring energy diversification through the development of logistics different from those of traditional hydrocarbons. At the same time, it continues working to reduce the environmental impact until its own carbon footprint is zero.
FCC Industrial and CLH
FCC Industrial is currently executing the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract for the renovation of aircraft fuel supply systems and hydrant system at the Dublin Airport (Ireland) for the CLH Aviación client (Hydrocarbons Logistics Company). The scope of the contract includes the construction of three double wall storage tanks of 5,000 cubic meters of capacity each, together with their associated facilities. The execution of a fuel loading station for the airport tanks, the installation of a network of underground pipes and hydrants, refueling at the foot of the airfield. The construction of fire protection facilities, as well as the demolition and dismantling of existing facilities. In addition, new control buildings as well as auxiliary facilities will be built.
With this infrastructure, FCC Industrial enables an improvement in the capacity to supply fuel to aircraft at Dublin Airport.
