FCC participates in the best business practice guide regarding accessibility
The Spanish Association of Occupational Risk Prevention Services (AESPLA) presented the 'Best business practice guide regarding accessibility' at the Congress of Deputies, a document aiming to contribute to improving the working conditions of people with disabilities by breaking down both architectural and communication barriers in the workplace and encouraging employers to bear them in mind.
The guide, drawn up with the participation of FCC as an AESPLA member, was monitored by the National Reference Centre for Personal Autonomy and Technical Aids (CEAPAT), a body operating under the Ministry of Health and supported by the Seres Foundation. In addition, it was given the approval of the National Institute for Health and Safety in the Workplace and the Regional Health and Safety Institutes of the Autonomous Communities of Madrid, Catalonia and Valencia.
Amongst its different chapters, the document has one dedicated to mobility within the workplace in which universal design criteria and best practices are given, such as the interaction required between accessible pedestrian routes and the work centre, and another one for accessibility regarding communication and information systems.
The document also includes already implemented best practices, with the hope that they serve as an example for other companies when launching accessibility projects.
