The viaduct is being built by UTE FCC-Conduril and with support from FCC Technical Services. At the moment the arch, which is made up of several cable-stayed cantilevers of 130 m in length, is 60% underway.

The viaduct is located along the high-speed Madrid-Extremadura line in the Embalse de Alcántara-Garrovillas section in Cáceres. In this section, the line crosses the Almonte River when it approaches the tail end of the Embalse de Alcántara, therefore it is necessary to have a structure with very important free space to save that crossing.

It is a concrete arch of 384 m of free space and once completed, it will be the largest arch worldwide for rail traffic and the third largest concrete arch worldwide if the road bridges are included.

Representatives from the different areas involved in the project participated in this workshop, including the Person in charge of the Project, members of Works Management and constructors. Among the speakers were: Pedro Cavero, Bridge Works Manager, and David Arribas, Head of Department of Bridges I at FCC, which is the team in charge of the project's development and of the technical support for the construction. All participants highlighted the technological challenge presented by the design and construction of this bridge and the great support that FCC is offering in its construction.
