FCC takes part in the presentation of the 'Eje Lo Marcoleta' project to the commune of Quilicura in Chile

FCC played a pivotal role in the meeting to present the road intervention project 'Eje Lo Marcoleta', held on Friday 20 February.

More than 200 residents attended the presentation of the 'Eje Lo Marcoleta' project in the commune of Quilicura, Santiago. This road intervention project spanning 1.4 kilometres, whose client is the Housing and Urban Development Service (SERVIU) of the metropolitan area, was awarded to FCC in December 2014. The works were launched in January.

At the event, representatives from the company, from the client and from the commune outlined the aspects of the project and answered any queries from the attendees, which primarily focused on the construction phases.

Quilicura is a commune with a rural past, situated in the northwest tip, 12 kilometres from Santiago, and has experienced rapid growth in recent decades. For the people of Quilicura, this project is an age-old wish that begun progress 20 years ago.

In order to vindicate this work, the population of Quilicura and the local government managed to secure 10,000 signatures from local inhabitants, which were submitted to the national government to demonstrate the importance of this request.

When the work gets underway in May 2016, it will benefit more than 100,000 citizens, who will be able to drive or cycle along the new motorway, providing them with access to the motorway connecting with Santiago and reducing travelling time, which on the whole exceeds two hours daily.
