FCC kick-starts Operation Kilo campaign to collect basic food items

On 16 March, FCC in collaboration with the charitable food bank Banco de Alimentos will launch the solidarity campaign 'Operation Kilo' for the donation of foodstuffs. [sic] The aim of this campaign is to encourage FCC employees to collect non-perishable and basic food items, as well as children's and personal hygiene products, with the aim of helping many families currently facing economic hardship.

This initiative will run until 20 March and will be open to all FCC employees who wish to voluntarily contribute to this common cause. The most in-demand products at these times are infant formula, jars of baby food, cereal, oil, Cola Cao, pulses, canned foods, rice or pasta.

To facilitate the launch of the campaign in your office and the transport management of the food products, we recommend each work centre to appoint one or several person(s) in charge of logistics.

The donated foods and products will be delivered to the food bank regional office closest to your work centre.

In order to facilitate the subsequent transport of the food items, Banco de Alimentos recommends, as much as possible, storing the products in boxes holding no more than 15 or 20 kilos. To organise the delivery, you only have to call your closest regional office.

In addition, all offices interested in taking part must send an email to comunicacion.interna@fcc.es to inform Banco de Alimentos of the towns and cities that have agreed to join in this effort.

The food banks that will receive the food collected from Operation Kilo are grouped under the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), which was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord for its active contribution to the fight against hunger. FESBAL has fifty institutions that distribute food to families and individuals who are most in need in our country.
