FCC present at the presentation of the book "Metropolitan Stadium (2017-2022)"
Pablo Colio, CEO of the FCC Group, has participated in the presentation of the book "Metropolitan Stadium (2017-2022)". Through the document, a photographic tour is carried out that summarizes the first five years of life of the current stadium built by FCC Construcción.
The event was attended by Enrique Cerezo, president of At Madrid, Miguel Ángel Gil, CEO of At Madrid; Antonio Alonso, Vice President of At Madrid; in addition to Antonio Cruz -architect of the stadium together with Antonio Ortiz- and Fernando Fariza -director of Exploitation and Operations of the club-, among other personalities.
The work contains images of matches to remember, historical moments, emotional encounters, solidarity events and unforgettable concerts for five years that are already part of the club's history.
The Metropolitan is a multipurpose venue in which soccer matches and cultural and social events take place.
The stadium was chosen as the best stadium of the year by the “Industry Awards” given by the world congress “World Football Summit”.
The stadium occupies a total area of 88,150 square meters and has the capacity to accommodate more than 68,000 fans, distributed in general capacity and VIP area. In addition, it has more than 1,000 parking spaces for fans inside the stadium and 3,000 outdoor parking spaces.
The distribution of the new stands makes it possible for fans and/or spectators to be close to the pitch. The new stadium has three new “T”-shaped stands, a low stand made up of 28 stands at the back and in preferred areas, a middle stand with 13 stands for Vips with direct access from the outside and finally , a high grandstand supported by a 32-tier perimeter building, where the public entrances, VIP boxes and complementary services are located.
The stadium roof requires a special mention, made up of a steel structure weighing some 6,336 tons, tensioned with radial cables and joined with a membrane that occupies an area of 83,053 square meters.
The membrane is made up of 720 PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) panels, weighing 92 tons. The cover covers the stands and will contribute to 96% of the locations being protected from the rain. This constitutes a unique and differentiating element from the rest of the European sports facilities designed in recent years.
The new stadium is the first stadium in the world to have entirely LED technology, thus transforming the skyline of the city of Madrid.
FCC has built more than 25 large facilities around the world that have hosted some of the main sporting events in disciplines such as football, tennis, motorcycling and athletics. Avant-garde, sustainable and functional facilities, infrastructures in which FCC Construcción has valued its technical and human capacity to overcome great challenges.
Efficiency, innovative solutions and the use of the most modern technology have been a guarantee of success, demonstrating why the company is a benchmark in this field.
