A few days ago, a group of journalists and editors of Madridiario visited the sports facilities underway, accompanied at all times by staff from FCC Construcción and Atlético de Madrid.

FCC Construcción is currently building the new Atlético de Madrid stadium, Wanda Metropolitano.  The roof will be one of the iconic components of the stadium. It will shelter the stands, protecting 96% of seats from the rain. The new stadium will have an installation surface area of 88,150 square metres compared to the 31,046 square metres currently available at the Vicente Calderón stadium.

It will have the capacity to seat 68,000 fans, 7,000 of which will be VIP seats, giving priority to the spaciousness, comfort and safety of the supporters as opposed to having a larger seating capacity. The stadium will have 4,000 parking spaces available for the fans (1,000 in the building itself and 3,000 outside).

The Wanda Metropolitano will be the first 100% LED stadium in the world. The spectacular roof of the new stadium, suspended over the pitch, will have dynamic lighting with over 16 million colours.

It has not been officially opened and yet the Wanda Metropolitano has already been chosen as one of the finalist stadiums to host the Champions League final in 2019.

FCC Construcción has built more than 25 sports facilities around the world, where some of the main sporting events and most prominent international football championships have taken place.
