FCC Construcción, with its project "The Spine-Running Tunnels-Mountain Section" in NEOM, has been awarded in the NEOM Quality Project Awards, in the Platinum category, for the project it is developing in Saudi Arabia. Currently, NEOM has more than 150 projects in operation simultaneously and the project developed by the company has been awarded for its high standards of quality, business excellence and operational efficiency. 

A few months ago, in the project executed by FCC Construcción, an important milestone was reached: 3 kilometers of drilling, obtaining excavation yields of more than 700 meters per month, in nine work fronts. At the same time, work began on the tunnel's definitive lining on two work fronts. A team of more than 2,000 people of 33 different nationalities is working to achieve the objectives set.

The tunnels will allow safe, fast and easy mobility of people and goods.
The rock excavated as part of the tunnel construction project will be processed for subsequent reuse within the concrete lining that will be used both in the tunnels and in other projects, ensuring minimal impact on the landscape.

About the NEOM project

NEOM, an acronym for New Future, is the name of the new city and economic-technological area, with an area three times the size of Cyprus, that Saudi Arabia is promoting in the northwest of the country, opposite the Sinai Peninsula.

NEOM will be a special economic city of 26,500 square kilometers (the size of Cyprus multiplied by three). The main objectives are to attract foreign investment from multinational companies, diversify the Saudi economy, create a free market space.
