Forética promotes business action and high-level alliances impact to promote more sustainable cities
- With the project ‘Sustainable Cities 2030’, Forética seeks to promote the business contribution to the development of sustainable cities in Spain and highlight the importance of public-private collaboration to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in urban settings (specifically, SDG 11)
- Forética intends to contribute with this project to the promotion of a model of resilient, safe, inclusive and sustainable city, together with 15 companies and entities, and in alliance with leading organizations in the field international and national
Forética launches the ‘Sustainable Cities 2030’ project that seeks to promote business contribution to the development of sustainable cities in Spain and highlight the importance of public-private collaboration for achieve a resilient, safe, inclusive and sustainable city model, in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11.
With the support of 15 companies and entities and in alliance with organizations referents in the international and national scope, Forética will focus on ‘Cities Sustainable 2030 ’in three areas of work for this year: Sustainable construction; sustainable urban development; and public-private collaboration to achieve the objectives sustainability in urban environments.
For this, from C40 Cities, Pamela Jouven, Head of City-Business Climate Alliance, transfers the importance of cities as key agents in the promoting global sustainability. This Climate Leadership Group – known as C40 Cities-, it is constituted by a group of cities that join forces to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere and adapt to change climate.
Cities, the epicenter of sustainability challenges and solutions
The ‘Sustainable Cities 2030’ project is led by Forética and made up of a total of 15 companies and entities, led by ASPRIMA, CEMEX, ENGIE and Sanitas. Accenture, AECLU, Banco Santander, Correos, Endesa, Ferrovial, Fundación Juan XXIII, HEINEKEN, Metro Ligero Oeste, Naturgy and OHL.
As allies, the World Business Council is part of the global initiative for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), at the national level the National Congress of Environment (CONAMA), and at the local level the Castellana Norte Madrid District and the association Madrid World Capital of Construction, Engineering and Architecture. Likewise, Forética maintains strategic alliances with meetings of international relevance in this field such as the Cities Forum or the Smart City Expo World Congress, in its different editions.
In its trajectory, Forética has projects from the area of Cities Sustainable as the ‘Toolbox for adaptation to change climate in cities ’, a project in collaboration with the Fundación Biodiversity of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, aimed at city councils at the national level to develop their strategies and adaptation actions to climate change. Also the project ‘Sustainable Life in Cities', highlighting the best practices in CSR matters related to urban sustainability, which had the collaboration of the FEMP and the Office Spanish of Climate Change.
