Francisco Esteban, Direction of I&T at FCC CO, appointed new Chairman of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts
Francisco Esteban Lefler, Director of Innovation and Technology at FCC Construcción, has been appointed Chairman of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts, which also includes the Chairmanship of the Spanish National Section of PIANC (World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure) for the next four years. The appointment took place at the General Assembly which was held today at the headquarters of The Spanish National Ports Authority in Madrid.
The director of the Citizen Services company, who has a great deal of experience in maritime works, has recently been awarded by the Japan Port and Harbour Association for circulating the report on how the tsunami affected the country's ports, which was published by MarCom, PIANC Maritime Commission.
The ATPYC (Technical Association of Ports and Coasts) was created in 1999, taking over the duties of the Spanish Section of PIANC that had been working for a long time before as the government delegation of the current Ministry of Public Works. Since the day it was founded, FCC Construcción has been a corporate partner.
Since the Association was created, the Board of Directors has been chosen by shareholders. The Honorary Chairman is the President of the Spanish National Ports Authority that, in turn, designates two members of the Board of Directors. The Chairmanship of ATPYC incorporates the Spanish Section of PIANC.
Francisco is a Road, Canal and Port engineer for the Polytechnic University of Madrid. From 1980 to 1993, he worked for the Ministry of Defence in the Management of Naval Military Constructions, Central Transmissions Pool and Directorate-General of Infrastructure, in which he eventually became the Manager of NATO Infrastructure and Environmental Protection. In 1993 he retired from military service at his own request. He belongs to the State Corps of Road, Canal and Port Engineers, although he is currently on leave.
Throughout 1993, he worked in Technical Management at the Spanish Ports Authority as manager in the project department. In 1994, he joined FCC Construcción's Technical Services in the role of Head of Maritime Works Department. Subsequently, he also became Head of the Civil Works Support Department and in 2000 he was appointed Director of the Maritime Works Department as well as Director of Civil Works Support.
In September 2001, he was appointed as the Director of the Technical Management Service at FCC Construcción, which incorporates the departments of maritime works, hydraulic works, architecture, facilities, videos and technical reports and the central material laboratory.
In September 2009, he was appointed Director of Innovation and Technology, which is incorporated by the R&D&I Service and the departments of Maritime works, Hydraulic Works, Materials Technology and Technical Videos and Reports.
He participated as a guest speaker in multiple conferences, congresses and seminars dedicated to innovation in the construction sector (infrastructure and building) on a national and international scale.
