2015 has been the second year running in which the European construction sector has recorded moderate growth (+1.6%), albeit resting on a weak base that is lacking in demand and investment.

2016 is expected to witness a turning point with the triggering of production from projects proposed during recent months. This factor would show a notable upturn with around + 3% growth.

Growth is expected to fade slightly in 2017 to + 2.7%. The first provisional forecast for 2018 warns of obstacles to overcome to maintain these rates of progress and only notes + 2% growth, which is a glimpse of the signs of depletion in Germany and the United Kingdom.

Generally speaking, the European construction sector will witness a two-year peak of growth that will be unequally distributed between countries, even though the number of countries unaffected by the upturn will tend to dwindle.

Euroconstruct, independent analysis group made up of 19 European institutes, holds two conferences each year with the aim of presenting its reports regarding the current and future situation of the construction markets, including residential and non-residential building and civil engineering. The ITeC is responsible for drawing up the report in Spain for the Euroconstruct group.
