Obtaining the Comptroller endorsement was the last step of the process before commencing the works. They will last for 44 months and will include 16 boarding stations and 22 kilometres of track which stretches from Tocumen, to the east of the capital, to the neighbourhood of San Miguelito in the north of the city, where there will be a connection with line 1.

According to the authorities, the works will produce more than 4,000 jobs during its construction phase and must be completed by April 2019.
In fact, line 2 will have an initial capacity –with 21 trains– to transport 16,000 passengers per hour in each direction. With the addition of more trains, it is also expected to accommodate 40,000 passengers in the future during peak hours.
