Given the process of digital transformation in which society and our sector are immersed, the implementation of the BIM (Building Information Modelling) methodology has become an imperative for our business strategy, based on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

BIM is already a requirement in a large part of the countries in which we are currently working and its demand will be growing in the different markets. In Spain, the plans of the Ministerio de Fomento (Ministry of Public Works) indicate BIM methodology requirements in public building tenders as of December 2018 and one year later in civil works.

Regarding our company, in the construction branch of FCC we have already started many works under this work methodology, mainly at the international level (metro projects in Doha, Riad and Lima). It is also planned for use in other works that we are starting in Spain, Belgium or Ireland.

The progressive implementation of this new methodology will be led by the Technical Services of FCC Construccion, but requires the collaboration and effort of each and every one of us. To achieve this, the transversal implication of the different areas of the company, both in the central offices and in the project, is essential. To this end, it will be promoted in the different Delegations the implementation of works under the BIM methodology that will allow the training of the personnel involved, which will result in a greater efficiency and productivity. The collaboration of the different areas in RDI projects that generate value for the company will also be of great strategic value for the implementation.

In order to ensure the success of the implementation plan and the various initiatives that will be developed within it, I will have the Area Directors, essential collaborators to achieve our goal of transformation. These will designate the Technical Committee in charge of carrying out the implementation and will monitor the plan.

In the same way, I would like to ask all of you for the maximum collaboration and enthusiasm in this process of change aimed at keeping us as the leading and pioneer company that we have always been.
