This infrastructure, which currently stands at around 80% complete, is located in the municipal area of Salas de los Infantes (Burgos), has a capacity of 44 cubic hectometres, covers a surface of 214 hectares and its maximum normal level is 1,032 metres above sea level.

The Minister was accompanied by Milagros Marcos Ortega, Government representative in Castille and León; Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones y Fernández, Minister of Public Works and Environment of the Regional Government of Castille and León; and Juan Ignacio Diego Ruiz, Chairman of the Duero Hydrographic Confederation, among other institutional figures. Attending on behalf of FCC were Juan Sanmartín Ferreiro, manager from the Galicia-Castille and León local office; Pedro Álvarez Hidalgo, head of civil works department, and Ramón Pérez Cecilia, construction manager, accompanied by the rest of the works management team.

The damn will supply water to more than 30,000 people and will improve the water availability for irrigation for 6,000 hectares, with resulting social and economic benefits which Minister Isabel García Tejerina considered noteworthy during her visit to the works site.

She highlighted the environmental benefits of the damn, stating that "it is going to help regulate the ecological flows from the river Arlanza", on top of generating electric power.
