The Bolaños tunnel works, built by FCC Construcción, shortlisted for the NCE Techfest 2017 awards

The Bolaños Tunnels Works for the Madrid–Galicia HST line have been nominated in the category “Innovation of the Year:  Smart Materials” for the prestigious TechFest 2017 awards organised by the journal New Civil Engineer.

The Bolaños tunnel works, built by FCC Construcción, shortlisted for the NCE Techfest 2017 awards

The announcement was made on 19 June on the awards organising committee's website. The winners will be announced in London on 14 September.

The works consist of building two parallel tunnels each carrying a single track for the Madrid–Galicia HST line, each 6.7 kilometres long. 

FCC Construcción has already built more than 99 kilometres of the Atlantic high-speed link, completing special projects including the 8.5-kilometre Vigo–Das Maceiras tunnel.

FCC has built more than 700 kilometres of high-speed track so far — 32% of all the high-speed lines built in Spain.
