The treatment plant in Abu Rawash (Egypt), built by FCC Construcción, has reached 5 million hours worked without accidents at work.
The Aqualia project includes the design, construction and operation and maintenance of the Abu Rawash treatment plant, located in Cairo (Egypt). The plant, once finished, will treat 1.6 million cubic meters of water per day and serve 6 million people, which makes it one of the largest in the world.
The scope of the works includes the expansion of the existing primary treatment plant, which will be extended from 1.2 million m3 / day to 1.6 million m3 / day, and to which a biological treatment will be added.
The Abu Rawash contract is part of the ambitious program of actions on water and sanitation that the Government of Egypt has and is backed by the African Development Bank, a multilateral organization whose purpose is the financing of development projects in the African continent.
The fulfillment of this milestone of 5 million hours worked without accidents at work, is a reflection of the high safety standards implemented in the work, and by the commitment of all project members in the adoption of safety and health as a priority within the execution of the infrastructure.
