The Enciso dam, built by FCC Construcción, winner of the International Millestone Award
The Enciso dam, executed by FCC Construcción, has won the International Project Award within the 9th International Symposium on RCC Dams and hardfill dams.
This is a project that regulates the course of the Cidacos River, thus ensuring urban supply for industrial uses and irrigation of more than 6,000 hectares. At 103 meters high, it is capable of holding up to 46 cubic hectometers of water. During its construction, more than 700,000 cubic meters of compacted concrete were used, representing 1,700,000 tons of weight. It is the second largest reservoir in La Rioja, after Mansilla, with 68 cubic hectometers.
Currently, the Enciso dam is in the filling phase, which will be 100% filled to its crest level in a period of approximately two years. It is a dam in which all measures have been included to promote safety, such as elements to detect microseismicity or induced seismicity, aspects that make it unique and pioneering within the country's hydraulic infrastructures.
