FCC Group's presence in Oman

Since 2018, Aqualia and the public company Majis Industrial Services have jointly managed Oman Sustainable Water Services, SAOC, a 20-year partnership responsible for operating and maintaining all water-related services in the port area of Sohar, the most important city in northern Oman. The project covers everything from seawater intake to wastewater treatment and recycled water management.

This is a technically complex initiative, featuring seawater extraction plants with a capacity of 700,000 m³/h, a 20,000 m³/day desalination plant, a 10,000 m³/day water treatment plant, and potable water and sewage networks exceeding 50,000 m³/day. The scope of operations has gradually expanded under the jurisdiction of the Port Authority.

Majis, Aqualia’s public partner, is the leading water services provider in Sohar and operates the largest seawater intake facility in the Middle East. Its CETRP plant treats and recycles industrial wastewater to produce process water, aiming for zero discharge into the environment.
