The Vice Mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís, visits the execution project and maintenance of deodorization systems in biomethanization plants and biogas treatment of the Valdemingomez Technological Park, developed by FCC Construcción.

The Madrid City Council carries out the complete cycle of waste management for the which has been equipped with a set of infrastructures for selective collection, transport, treatment and recovery of urban waste.

The urban waste collected in the city is transported, in its vast majority, to the facilities of the Valdemingómez Technology Park (PTV), where they are subjected to separation, classification and recovery treatment. Fractions don´t recoverable are deposited in the controlled landfill located on the premises of the aforementioned Technological Park. Within the PTV there are two biomethanization plants (Las Dehesas and La Paloma) in which urban waste is treated through a process biological anaerobic digestion from which biogas is obtained.

In the development of these processes, given the raw material used, inevitably they generate bad odors. For this reason, the development of the construction and maintenance of the executed infrastructures of the deodorization systems to be implemented in the Biomethanization Complex of the Valdemingómez Technological Park.

The solution adopted consists of the implementation of two air treatment lines, clearly differentiated:

- The first will be made up of the facilities necessary for the treatment of the air coming from the reception pit hall, from the hall of pretreatment and of the independent interior ship.
- The second line will be made up of the facilities necessary for the treatment of the air coming from the dehydration and storage warehouse digest.

Each of these lines will go to the same biofilter, since the characteristics of the air in both lines do not require a differentiated treatment.

In order to minimize the air to be treated in the biofilter, specifically that of the pretreatment, it is proposed to use the air in the least loaded areas to renew the air from the most loaded areas, where there will be no presence of personnel.

Therefore, a part of the air flow captured from the pretreatment hall will be used as renewal air for the reception pit hall and the inner hall independent, and the rest will be sent directly to the treatment system.
