The Vice Mayor visits the Metropolitan Forest executed by FCC Construcción

The Vice Mayor of Madrid has visited the Forest project Metropolitan, executed by FCC Construction. There he planted the first forest tree
Metropolitan, a cork oak.The project will be the largest green infrastructure of Europe in a whole decade, with 75 kilometers in length, 240,000 trees and 170,000 tons of CO2 that it will absorb in his mature age.

From a plot in Valdebebas, which will be named by the citizens in a process participatory program that will start on January 7 at Decide Madrid, Villacís has remarked that, "Whoever succeeds this government team, there is a commitment to continue planting this forest, which transcends everyone because it is not the forest of the Accords of the Villa, the forest of this Government team but that of Madrid and that of all Madrileños "." Why in the surroundings of cities do we find spaces wastelands that are of no use at all, that end up being rubbish dumps? " questioned the deputy mayor, who has highlighted a fundamental aspect that brings with it the Metropolitan Forest, an action that responds to the problem of desertification, a process "that is beginning to occur and in the south of Madrid".

Another key to the Metropolitan Forest is that it will transcend the current Corporation.
"The classic way of undertaking infrastructure by governments, and it is something very human, is planning to four years, it is something that has to look four years ", before of the elections, to leave a legacy whose authorship is recognized.

The Metropolitan Forest has a budget of 75 million euros, paid between the municipal budget, European Feder Funds and collaboration
public-private. Schools in Madrid will attend to collaborate in the plantations.
