The first train of Line 2 of the Panama Metro arrives, built by FCC Construccion

Line 2 of the Panama Metro has received the first train. The line under execution by FCC Construccion will receive a total of 21 trains manufactured by the company Alstom.

This first train has been placed in the area of railway yards and workshops. As the trains are being received in the yards and workshops, the assembly or connection of the wagons will begin, to then begin the tests of the equipment, interfaces and the entire train.

The trains will have a capacity to transfer 1,000 users per unit. It will also have internal closed circuit television cameras, as well as video surveillance technology designed to monitor user activities.

The infrastructure executed by the construction area of the FCC Group currently represents a 70% advance. The contract consists of design engineering services, construction of civil works, auxiliary line installations and stations, supply and installation of the integral rail system, which includes rolling stock and commissioning of the line. It will have the capacity to transport an average of 16,000 passengers per hour (up to a maximum of 40,000 at peak hours) and will be adapted for people with reduced mobility.

In fiscal year 2017, FCC Construccion reached 60% progress in execution. Among the main milestones of the project, stand out: the construction of the roofs of the stations and the metallic structures to support the escalators and the metallic structures of the elevators, in January of 2017; installation of escalators and partitions at stations, in February 2017; and completion of the manufacture of the thousandth "U" beam, in November of 2017.
