Pablo Colio, CEO of the FCC Group, has visited the project that FCC Construcción is carrying out in Saudi Arabia: Lines 4-5-6 Riyadh Metro. The Riyadh Metro is the largest transportation infrastructure project under construction in the world. Six lines are being executed, 85 stations and it has a total length of 176 kilometers. The FAST Consortium, made up of FCC (Spain), Samsung C&T (Korea), Alstom (France), Strukton (Netherlands) and Freyssinet (Saudi Arabia) is responsible for Lot 3 (Yellow, Green and Purple Lines) of the Meter.
During this first quarter of 2023, important milestones have been achieved in the project. On the one hand, during the visit of the General Transport Authority (TGA), the Independent Security Engineer (E-ISA) and the Independent Security Evaluator Constructor (C-ISA), were able to witness the satisfactory tests of the Security Systems against Fires on Lines 4 and 6. TGA confirmed the success of the tests.
On the other hand, the biggest milestone reached so far is the demonstration of the L4&6 System (12 stations in total). During this event, 34 trains were circulating simultaneously for more than one, allowing a service availability that varied from 99.18% to 99.97%, presenting an advance of 110 seconds.
Following these important achievements, the CEO of FCC and the General Director of RCRC, Mr. Fahd Al-Rasheed, paid a visit to Lines 4 and 6. During the visit they were accompanied by Yago Mijangos (General Director of FCC – Asia/ Pacific), Rafael Huerga (FCC - FAST Project Director) and Santiago Sánchez (FCC - CJV Project Director), among other personalities from ALSTOM, SAMSUNG and RCRC. The visit started at the Line 4&6 Depot, then they traveled from station 4E1 to 4C2, where they changed to the Line 6 train, continuing to station 6F1, where the visit ended.
The final delivery of the project is expected in the last quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024.
