The FCC Construcción project, NEOM tunnels, reaches 3 kilometers of drilling

The NEOM project has reached 3 kilometers of drilling, obtaining excavation outputs of more than 700 meters per month, in nine work fronts. Simultaneously, work on the definitive lining of the tunnel has begun on two work fronts. A team of more than 2,000 people of 33 different nationalities is working to achieve the set objectives.

The tunnels will allow safe, fast and easy mobility of people and goods.

The rock excavated as part of the tunnel construction project will be processed for subsequent reuse within the concrete lining that will be used in both the tunnels and other projects, ensuring minimal impact on the landscape.

About the NEOM project

NEOM, acronym for New Future, is the name of the new city and economic-technological area, with an area three times larger than that of Cyprus, that Saudi Arabia is promoting in the northwest of the country, facing the Sinai Peninsula.

NEOM will be a special economic city of 26,500 square kilometers (the size of Cyprus multiplied by three). The main objectives are to attract foreign investments from multinational companies, diversify the Saudi economy, create a free market space.
