The Future Valleys consortium reaches an important milestone: placing the first beams on the bridges of the A465 motorway widening project (Wales)

The Future Valleys consortium has reached an important milestone: it has placed the first beams on the bridges of the A465 motorway widening project (Wales-United Kingdom). It is a 36 meter long metal girder bridge whose structure has been baptized with the name Nant Ffrwd off-slip.

FCC is part of the Future Valleys consortium, in which Meridiam, an international investment fund, participates.

The project developed under the PPP model consists of the expansion of the A465 highway, in sections 5 and 6, which have a length of 17.3 kilometers and are located between the towns of Dowlais Top, Merthyr Tydfil and Hirwaun. Currently, these sections of the highway have only one carriageway and heavy traffic.

The project contemplates the widening of the A465 motorway, being key to improving mobility and connectivity in Wales, as well as for the reactivation of the local economy. The expansion of the A465 represents a significant investment that will enable the generation of a set of benefits for local companies that participate in the development of the work.

This infrastructure is added to others recently awarded, such as the design, construction, and maintenance contract for a section of the A9 Badhoevedorp-Holendrecht motorway in the Netherlands. The company's first contract in the country.
