The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda puts the new Sant Andreu station (Barcelona) into service
FCC Construcción has completed the new Sant Andreu station, an action that culminates a key phase in the La Sagrera-Sant Andreu operation, in which 130 million euros have been invested this year alone (700 million in total), and progress is being made in the configuration of a new mobility in the north of Barcelona.
FCC Construcción has participated in this key railway infrastructure junction for Barcelona and Catalonia.
In addition, the final layout of the Barcelona-Granollers-Girona conventional network line (4.3 kilometres, of which 2.8 km run underground) has been put into service inside the structure of the future Sagrera station . The route begins under the Nus de la Trinitat and, after a section in the open air, goes into the tunnel, stopping at the new Sant Andreu station, until it reaches the interior of La Sagrera station, where they will not yet have trains stop. From there the tunnel line will continue to El Clot. Between the Sant Andreu station and La Sagrera there is a small section on the surface before going back underground.
The entire La Sagrera-Sant Andreu operation responds to the needs of the users, increasing the capacity of Rodalies and extending the high speed, and those of the neighbors because the surface tracks are eliminated, making the trains go underground from Sant Andreu to El Clot, and the connection of the neighborhoods is improved. Thus, the cohesion of the neighborhoods is promoted and it contributes to revitalize the city socially and economically.
The new station
The passenger building of the new Sant Andreu station has a surface area of 696 square meters and is located on the slab that covers the tracks, with two 210-meter platforms that serve four tracks, two of which are used for passenger parking. Rodalie trains.
The station, which houses a 3,100 m2 urban art mural by the artists Roc Blackblock and Miquel Wert, prioritizes sustainability, taking advantage of natural light, and accessibility, with two elevators connecting the lobby with the platforms, in addition to the Mechanic stairs. It also has three entrances: the connecting walkway from the historic station, the bridge on Carrer de Sant Adrià and the La Maquinista walkway.
