The Valencian Regional Government presents FCC Construcción with an award for its contribution to the reconstruction of the main infrastructure affected by DANA 2024
The Valencian Regional Government presents FCC Construcción with an award, on the occasion of European Mobility Week, for its contribution to the reconstruction of critical infrastructure affected by DANA 2024. After the flood, 18 roads belonging to the Valencian Regional Government were seriously affected, which is why the regional administration has presented awards to companies and entities for their work after the disaster almost a year ago. The gift presented to all of them has ‘symbolic value’ as it was made by a Valencian company from reeds collected on beaches in the province that were washed up there by the flood.
Convensa carried out the comprehensive refurbishment of the C3 railway line between Valencia and Buñol, working along the entire route and at the stations of San Isidre, Xirivella, Aldaia, L'Origuilla, Cheste, Chiva and Buñol. FCC Construcción worked on the reconstruction of the two existing damaged bridges on the CV-33 (intersection of the Rambla del Poyo with the CV-33 (Pincaya) in the ‘zero’ zone of the DANA).
FCC Construcción recently completed, in record time, the repair of the Valencian regional roads CV-33 and CV-36, key arteries connecting the city of Valencia with the metropolitan area of Torrent. The total repair included the commissioning of the CV-33 viaduct, which is located over the Poyo ravine, the point of origin of the catastrophic flood.
The new CV-33 has been refurbished to incorporate resilience measures in the event of possible emergencies, with the aim of improving its safety and durability, thus restoring the four lanes of traffic to serve the 17.5 million vehicles that travel on this road annually. The partial reopening of the CV-33 took place just ten days after the flood, on 12 November. The project included the reconstruction of the bridge abutment in the direction of Valencia and the reinforcement of the bases of the other bridge with concrete injection.
This action has restored traffic on the 47.3 kilometres of road network affected, giving Torrent and the entire metropolitan area back a key connection for economic activity: transport.
