Carlos M. Jarque meets with the FCC Environment International’s Central and Eastern Europe team in Austria
Carlos M. Jarque, Chief Executive of FCC, visited the facilities of FCC Environment Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in Austria, where he met with local teams from our subsidiary company. Accompanied by the president of FCC Environment, Agustin Garcia Gila, and by the Head of FCC Environment International, Antonio Alfonso, Jarque took the opportunity of his meetings with managers and employees in Austria to underline the importance of the Environment and Water Divisions for the Group.
To illustrate his words, the CEO referred to the Group’s quarterly results, the healthy improvement of which has been boosted by an overall 14.7% increase in turnover in international markets, where growth of more than ten per cent was achieved in all business areas. He said that the Central and Eastern Europe subsidiary accounted for 12.7% of the Environment Division’s results and expressed his confidence that “there is still considerable potential for improvement, which can be reached through productivity and development of new projects”.
Jarque encouraged the FCC Environment CEE teams to “feed the strategic vision of the entire Group” as one of the priorities in the Decalogue of challenges to be addressed in the immediate term. Such challenges include renewing concessions, implementing technological innovations, deriving profitability from each and every project, and paying constant attention to changes in a sector prone to continuous transformation.
Within this Decalogue, Jarque also referred to teamwork and harnessing synergies with the Group as a whole, the need to preserve and encourage talent within the organisation and the interaction of the economic, financial and social dimensions of each Group Project.
To achieve better results
The Group Chief Executive stated he was convinced that such teamwork will lead to better results that will be reflected in the Group's balance sheet. To achieve that, he invited everyone in the audience to “work with enthusiasm and creativity”.
Accompanied by Bjorn Mittendorfer, head of FCC Environment CEE, Jarque also visited the Zistersdorf facility (located about 50 kilometres north of Vienna), an EfW (Energy from Waste) power plant that generates almost 110,000 MWh of electric power, fuelled by 163,000 tonnes of municipal and industrial waste.
