Carlos M. Jarque tours FCC Aqualia and FCC Environment facilities in Vigo
The Chief Executive of FCC was given a first-hand picture of the performance of these two business areas.
Carlos M. Jarque, CEO of the FCC Group, travelled to Vigo to meet managers and staff of FCC Aqualia and FCC Environment in the northern Spanish city. As part of the same trip, Mr. Jarque met with the Mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, who is also President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), with whom he discussed future cooperation between FCC and the city.
Mr. Jarque was accompanied on the tour by Félix Parra, General Manager of FCC Aqualia; Santiago Lafuente, Manager of FCC Aqualia Spain; José Luis García, Galicia Regional Manager of FCC Aqualia; and José María Ardoy, Director of the Vigo water service. At the meeting with the Environment staff, he was joined by Jordi Payet, General Manager of FCC Environment, and Guillermo Dávila, Head of FCC Environment in Vigo.
Speaking to workers from the two divisions, Mr. Jarque encouraged them to remain focused on results, service quality and productivity as their main goals, and congratulated them on their good work in Vigo. In meetings with staff, he highlighted those two units' leading position in their respective lines of business.
The CEO met with the heads of the Vigo Water Services department, which is managed by FCC Aqualia. He then chatted with the chairman of the works committee and with union representatives. Mr. Jarque also received first-hand details of the service the company provides in Vigo, and of the remote control and Aqualia GIS facilities, plus an overview of the latest technologies the company applies to managing this essential public service.
The touring group visited the remineralisation plant which is currently under construction at the Casal drinking water treatment plant, where they were given an overview of the treatment process and ozone facilities.
FCC Aqualia has been managing the municipal water services for Vigo, Galicia's largest city, since 1991. Meanwhile, FCC Environment has been providing cleaning and refuse collection services in the city since 1989.
