FCC employees, awarded in the second edition of the eHealth Challenge, the largest charity Olympiad between companies

FCC was one of the companies awarded yesterday in the second edition of the eHealth Challenge, in a celebration held at the Assembly Hall of the headquarters of the National Institute of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, in Madrid. This is an initiative organised by Sportsnet and Fundación MAPFRE, in which a total of 13,146 professionals from 77 companies from 32 countries participated. For six weeks, from 5 March to 15 April, they competed to be the company with the most kilometres travelled in the world.

FCC was amongst the highest ranking companies with more than 1,000 employees, taking first prize in the walking category, second in running and third in cycling.

This year's results confirmed a new success for the event. The participants travelled a total of 1,321,836.80 kilometres (which is an average of more than 100 per person) in a total of 144,340 hours.

Participation on FCC

The inter-company Olympiad aims to promote sports and improve health in the workplace, with 576 people signed up from FCC, with FCC coming in top places in all rankings, both by company and by team. In total, they covered 95,464 kilometres, of which 19,397 was from walking, 19,325 from running and 56,742 from cycling. An outstanding result that has led them to obtain good positions in a classification comprising 13,141 participants from 77 companies, and where all the business areas of the FCC Group have been represented.

Aqualia's "Water People Ávila" team finished second in the running category in the overall team ranking. The FCC Industrial Espartanos team came in third place in the walking category, and the FCC Environment team from Almeria, called RBU Almería Grupo2, came in fourth. In the individuals section, our colleague José Luis Arribas from FCC Aqualia Ávila, achieved a commendable 2nd place in the absolute Running Ranking.

Lastly, the winners of FCC's own ranking were: the aforementioned Aqualia and Almería teams in running and cycling, respectively, and the FCC Industrial Espartanos team in walking. The individual winners were: José Luis Arribas from Aqualia Ávila in running, Vicente Sempere from Aqualia Alcoy in walking, and Juan José Montes Ferre from Almería Environment in cycling.

These months of competition have served to measure the energy that each company generates through sports amongst its employees. We would like to thank each of the participants, who have enabled FCC to have a noteworthy presence throughout the Olympiads.

In addition to being a healthy initiative, the event has also fulfilled its charitable objective, raising more than 30,000 euros, which will be presented to different organisations and charities over the coming months that voted for the participating companies.
