FCC and WWF Spain have a cooperation agreement in place to encourage citizens and businesses to commit to sustainable development of the planet. As a result of that agreement, Cemusa provided advertising space for Earth Hour, an annual initiative that seeks to raise awareness about taking care of the Earth.

Sixty volunteers from FCC Group, including employees, friends, and family, participated in the reforestation event.

Before getting to work, representatives from WWF Spain discussed the current state of forests. Just 18% of Spain's native forests remain, and the bulk is in the northern half of the country. They also discussed the different species to be planted that day and the characteristics of the terrain.

In about half a hectare in Cerro de los Ataques, the group planted 7 hawthorns, 20 junipers, 59 savins, 1 almond tree, 6 holm oaks, 22 buckthorns, 15 wild rosebushes, and 8 blackberry bushes (138 plants in total).

With enthusiasm and energy, the FCC participants helped restore the area's natural vegetation, which is vital for the species that live or nest there, especially vultures.

In short, the participants helped in the reforestation of an area where only 18% of native vegetation remains, according to a 2008 study by the WWF and the Autonomous University of Madrid (Los bosques que nos queda).
