FCC analysing tenders in Oman and Bahrain worth 2.5 billion euro

FCC is studying the possibility of bidding for a number of contracts tendered by the authorities in Oman and Bahrain that are worth a total of 2.5 billion euro. The goal of FCC, the Citizen Services Group, is to extend its operations to those two countries in the Persian Gulf; it already operates in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The bids, some of which have already been presented, are for infrastructure development and end-to-end water management projects, to be undertaken by FCC Aqualia.

Juan Béjar, FCC Vice-Chairman and CEO, informed both countries' authorities and business leaders of the company's ambition to enter these new markets during the King of Spain's visit this week to Oman and Bahrain. Speaking at a business event in Bahrain, Mr Béjar highlighted the importance of infrastructure and citizen services, such as waste collection and water management, for that country's economy. He also underlined FCC's interest in participating in the development of all kinds of infrastructures there.

"We are ready to work in Bahrain, which has been able to find value in infrastructure and industry beyond the contribution by oil and gas to the national economy", he told a large audience of Bahraini government officials and entrepreneurs. He also emphasized FCC's desire to be a loyal partner in the development of infrastructure and services, and the Group's extensive experience, particularly in transport systems and end-to-end water management.
